Keira’s talent had become undeniable. Her mastery over the energy manipulation formulas and devices surpassed the capabilities of even some of the most experienced Helion. Word of her unprecedented progress had begun to spread within the Helion ranks, causing a stir among their scholars and leaders alike.

As days passed, Keira’s reputation among the Helion grew. They began to observe her from the shadows, intrigued by this outsider who wielded their technology with such ease. The more they watched, the more they became aware of something extraordinary: Keira’s innate ability wasn’t just about intelligence or quick learning—it was as if she had an intrinsic connection to the very energy the Helion sought to control.

Lucas, on the other hand, felt increasingly sidelined. He tried to hide his frustration, but each day it became harder. The young Helion who once took the time to teach him barely paid attention to his progress anymore. Their focus had shifted entirely to Keira, and Lucas was left feeling irrelevant.

“How do you do it?” Lucas asked one evening after yet another training session where Keira had left him far behind. They were in their shared quarters, a dimly lit room with soft, glowing walls that emanated warmth.

Keira, sitting cross-legged on her bed, looked at him with genuine confusion. “I don’t know,” she admitted, her voice soft. “I wish I could explain it, but it feels like… like I already know all of this. It’s like I’m remembering, not learning.”

Lucas leaned against the wall, arms crossed, frustration clear on his face. “And me? I can barely understand the basics. It’s like I’m a child playing with advanced tools I can’t begin to comprehend.”

“You’re not a child, Lucas,” Keira said firmly. “You’re trying, and that’s what matters.”

He gave a hollow laugh. “But trying isn’t enough, is it? You’re the one with the talent. Everyone sees it. They don’t even bother looking at me anymore.”

Keira frowned, sensing the pain in Lucas’s voice. “I’m sorry,” she said softly. “I don’t want this to be a competition. We’re here for a reason, remember? To stop what we saw in the future. Whatever is happening to me… it’s not about outpacing you.”

Lucas sighed, his frustration fading into a quiet acceptance. “I know, Keira. I just feel… useless.”

Their conversation was interrupted by a chime at the door. It slid open to reveal the older Helion master who had previously assessed Keira’s abilities. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes flicked briefly to Lucas before settling on Keira.

“Keira,” he began, his tone calm but with an undercurrent of urgency, “there is something I must show you. It’s time you understood why we’ve been pushing you so hard.”

Keira stood, exchanging a glance with Lucas before following the Helion master out of the room. Lucas remained behind, the familiar weight of being left out settling over him once more.

They walked in silence through the winding corridors of the Helion facility, the soft hum of energy coursing through the walls. Keira’s mind raced with questions, but the gravity of the moment kept her quiet.

Eventually, they reached a large chamber, its ceiling so high that the source of light seemed almost unreachable. In the center of the room was a massive holographic display, swirling with images of stars, planets, and complex energy fields. Helion scholars stood at various points around the chamber, all focused on the projections, but they parted as the master approached, allowing Keira to step forward.

“What is this?” Keira asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The Helion master gestured to the hologram, his expression grave. “This is the core of our existence. The energy that binds our universe together. For centuries, the Helion have manipulated this energy to maintain balance, but… something has changed.”

Keira studied the swirling patterns, noticing irregularities—ripples of distortion that disrupted the otherwise harmonious flow. “What’s happening to it?”

“Something is causing the very fabric of this energy to unravel,” the master explained. “We don’t know what, but if it continues… it could lead to the destruction of everything we know.”

Keira’s heart raced. “You think I can help with this?”

“We don’t just think,” the master said, his voice filled with conviction. “We know. Your ability to understand and manipulate energy on such a fundamental level is beyond anything we’ve ever seen, even among our own. You might be the key to stabilizing the energy and stopping this collapse.”

Keira took a step back, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. “I… I don’t know if I’m ready for this.”

The master placed a hand on her shoulder, his expression softening. “No one ever feels ready for such responsibility. But you’ve already surpassed our expectations, Keira. You’re more than capable.”

For a moment, Keira was silent, the enormity of the task before her sinking in. She thought of the destruction they had witnessed in the future, the devastation that had brought her and Lucas to this point.

“I’ll do it,” she said finally, her voice steady. “But I’ll need Lucas. I can’t do this alone.”

The master hesitated, clearly uncertain of Lucas’s role in all of this. But after a moment, he nodded. “Very well. Bring him here. Together, we will find a way to save our world.”

As Keira turned to leave the chamber, a sense of resolve filled her. She didn’t know what lay ahead, but she knew one thing for sure—she wouldn’t face it alone. Lucas might have been struggling, but deep down, Keira believed that he had a part to play in this. They were stronger together, even if the Helion couldn’t yet see it.
